the GIFT OF ART - a giving campaign

12/6/2013

Picture
Inspired by the many incredible service organizations in our community, the Lake Country Art Gallery is launching it’s first annual “The Gift of Art - a giving campaign”.

The Lake Country Art Gallery believes highly in the power of art and creative expression to feed one’s soul, activate new insights and transcend everyday experiences.

Through the creation of small, mobile art kits, the Lake Country Art Gallery’s “The Gift of Art - a giving campaign” will bring art and creative expression to those who might not be able to otherwise access art making and creative outlet opportunities; to those who might most benefit from it.

How does it work?

From now until Sunday, Dec 15th, the Lake Country Art Gallery will accept donations of unused and unopened art supplies in good condition. If you don’t have any art supplies on hand, cash donations will also be accepted.

What kinds of materials can be donated?

We are looking for any and all kinds of unused and unopened art supplies in good condition including, like but not limited to: pencils, pens, felt pens, coloured pencils, chalk and oil pastels, charcoal, conte, inks, tempura paint, watercolour paint, acrylic paint, oil paint, ALL kinds of paint, brushed, water containers, pencil sharpeners, erasers, rulers, scissors, exacto knives, glue, glue sticks, any and all kinds of tape, collage materials (interesting kinds of paper, fabric and other kinds of two dimensional materials) note pads, sketch books, fine art papers (rag, watercolour, etc.), small canvases and wood panels, etc.

How will the art kits be made?

We invite anyone who would like to help organize and make the art kits to the Lake Country Art Gallery on Dec 17th at 10am. Donated materials will be sorted into kits according to a specific project or theme.  Please RSVP to the gallery.

How will the kits be distributed?

The Lake Country Art Gallery will team up other community groups and individuals to distribute the art kits. If you or your group would like to be involved in giving the gift of art this holiday season, please contact the Lake Country Art Gallery at 250-766-1299 / lakecountryartgallery@shaw.ca.
