PARTICIPATE AT THE WALL
JOIN OUR VISUAL COMMUNITY BOARD
Working with Lake Country's Public Art Advisory Commission, Lake Country Art Gallery hosts one of two town walls.
Everyone is invited to participate in the visual dialogues.

Our team at Lake Country Art Gallery continues to work hard to maintain a space that represents creativity, inclusiveness, and belonging for all. As many of you are aware, our Pride flag — a visible symbol of that commitment — has been repeatedly vandalised and removed, culminating recently in the destruction of our freshly repainted Town Wall on which the flag had been attached. These actions were disheartening, and undeniably deliberate.
However, we want to be clear: these incidents, while serious, are not typical of our community. They reflect the actions of a small and determined minority, not the values of the vast majority. In fact, the public response to these acts of vandalism has been overwhelmingly supportive. From heartfelt messages and letters of solidarity to offers of donations, paint, time, and hands-on help — your voices have made it clear that hate has no home here.
We deeply appreciate every person who spoke up, stood with us, and affirmed the importance of visible symbols of safety and acceptance. Your support has reminded us that we are not alone in this work — and that what we do matters.
As we move forward, we’re excited to share that the Town Wall — a collaborative public art project created to encourage positive visual dialogue and community expression — has been reinstalled this month. Nearby, we will be installing a new, separate flagpole on site in the coming weeks to once again raise the Pride flag, as well as any other symbols that foster a sense of belonging, safety, inclusive, and welcome.
We remain committed to standing visibly and vocally for inclusion — not just in words, but in action and art. To those who have offered to help: thank you. If you'd like to join us in rebuilding or show your support, please reach out directly.
Community resilience is built not in spite of challenges, but because we face them together. Thank you for being valued members of ours.
With appreciation and resolve,
Petrina McNeill, Executive Director
