Our first presentation of 2017 will be from Brenda Feist at 2:30 at the Manor Simply Looking: Finding the Art in Everything. Art with a big A is an industry and a business, made by professionals and experts, shown in galleries, sold, resold, collected, reviewed... art with a small a is a point of view, a commitment to a process, a direction, to generosity. It's made by all kinds of people–farmers, accountants, moms, in all kinds of places–parking lots, fields, kitchens. They are not mutually exclusive but complementary, and together comprise the narrative of being alive; one human telling another human what it is to be human. Join Brenda Feist, of Simply Art, for an art appreciation presentation and discussion*, and find out how to get more juice out of your day through the practice of looking at, making, and sharing art. " Because I believe art is about everything that is truly valuable--passion, love, life, humanity, and that it connects us to each other and the world though time and across the globe. I’m an artist, teacher, mother of three sons, and grandmother of four. I have an MFA and have both worked for and shown in galleries. As Education Coordinator for the Kelowna Art Gallery, I loved designing programming to complement the exhibitions, and writing and leading tours for all ages and abilities. Simply Art was born out of this love of art and ceaseless wonder at its processes, insights, and power to shift our perceptions." |
