2nd Language Cafe with 'Living Books'

7/2/2016

Picture
WHEN: Sunday October 2nd
TIME: 3pm-6pm
WHERE: The gardens in front of the Art House
TICKETS: FREE for BC Culture day!

We're having a Language Cafe once again! It's another chance to enjoy the  day getting to know community members and/or practice any language you know or are learning.

Come to chat about the weather in Spanish or marvel at the food in Sign Language.

Flags are available when you arrive to place on your table. Once placed, the flag designates your table as speaking the language represented by the flag and acts as an invitation for others to join you in conversation.

running alongside the Language Cafe we will have a number of 'Living Books'*. Here you will be able to have one-to-one conversation with a living, breathing 'book' , a community member with a story to tell whom you can ask questions of or just simply listen to. There will be up to six ‘human books’ made available for visitors to visit with for up to 10 minutes each.

*Our interpretation is based on 'Living Libraries' which have been used since 2001 to create dialogue, promote understanding, and reduce prejudice.
