Tap~In is a drop-in art and wellness program where participants can access self awareness through the creative process. Participants have the opportunity to explore a variety of mediums and guided processes in an inclusive and safe space. Each week will offer different art directives and materials; or the opportunity for spontaneous practice. Create art and tap into self in a safe space. The Lake Country Art House presents After School Art for creative individuals aged 7-11. Classes take place on Wednesdays 3:30-5:30, from November 10th - December 15th.
The cost is $120 to members and $135 to non-members. This includes 12 hours of instruction and all materials. Space is limited. To register email arthouse@lakecountryartgallery.ca
Camp Dates
All supplies included - Cost $160 per camp Bio Christia Langlois was born in France where she grew up and got a degree in literature before she moved to Chile for several years to raise her little family. She moved to Canada with her family in 2012 and is now established in the Okanagan. In 2019 she went back to Okanagan College to study Carpentry and Joinery in order to deepen her knowledge in woodworking. She has been teaching French, Spanish, gymnastics, circus, and art. Throughout the years her exploration of arts has taken her to discover and play with many techniques in painting, printing, pottery, woodworking, and fiber between others. Her artwork focuses on using art to navigate life with its infinite possibilities, avenues, and textures. Seeing art as a way to express ourselves, share, and communicate with the world. She enjoys working with kids and sharing with them the joy of exploration, imagination, and creativity. Relevant COVID protocols and PHO will be followed for these camps, those registered will be informed of any updates as they become available. Here you will learn the process of dyeing using provided cotton bandannas, through various natural dyeing techniques. Every participant will bring home a one of a kind bandanna. This Drop-In event takes place: July 12th, 14th, and 16th from 3:00pm until 6:00pm All supplies will be available, we just ask for a minimum $10.00 donation towards the Lake Country Public Art Gallery. Uncharted Retreat with Barb P. Marchand and Ankaret Dean
We are excited to offer our first ever Artist Retreat at Lake Country ARTHouse. In this retreat we are privileged to learn with elders and artists Barb P. Marchand and Ankaret Dean. We begin on Friday at 3pm with an exclusive tour of the Uncharted Territory Exhibition at the Lake Country Art Gallery on it’s opening day. Having been inspired by the exhibition we shall drink tea and share ideas on how we will collectively respond, in what materials and which techniques we will use, and how we will celebrate this work publicly. Ankaret and Barb are experts at expressing their voices through art, as we shall ours in this retreat - collectively. We will surprise ourselves on this uncharted journey. We are hopeful that we will be able to share this work publicly at the ArtHouse the following week. Pippa and Alison will host an Open House on October 16th from 10am to 1pm at the ArtHouse so you can find out more about their Friday Art Practice, Sunday Art Sessions, Artists Circle and Sunday Morning studio. With COVID protocols events will be by pre-registration and limited to 6 participants. Below are summaries for each event. Friday Art Practice is open studio time (must pre-register) to connect with the artistic community and the current Lake Country Art Gallery Exhibition. Bring your art practice to the ArtHouse and have time to play! Pippa and Alison will be working alongside the group and will invite volunteer artists to inspire the group. Sunday Morning Studio(SMS) is a 4 week art program for children and youth (Age 8 to 18). Each four week program will explore the Lake Country Art Gallery's current exhibition and provide opportunities for SMS artists to explore areas of interest creating their own art in response to the exhibition. Artists Circle The Artists Circle invites those interested to come together and identify collective areas of need for professional development. Whether its taxes, photographing your work or getting your social media up and running. The first sessions will be an opportunity for attendees to "artstorm" their ideas and priorities for professional development, with a focus on current needs during the pandemic. Sunday Art Sessions are an opportunity for all ages to experience the current exhibition at Lake Country Art gallery and participate in a related activity in the gallery space or ARTHouse site. Join us for 45minute sessions at either 1:30pm or 2 :30pm (prior registration is required). Adult supervision required.
