The Lake Country Art Gallery is pleased to present its annual Member’s Show from February 13th - March 15th, 2013. Every year the Lake Country Art Gallery opens the doors of its gallery space to its members as a way to further support, engage and celebrate their artistic achievements. The Lake Country Art Gallery currently has a membership of about 150 individuals whose membership contributions help support gallery programming including the annual member’s show.
“We are really blessed by the strength of the support of our members and volunteers”, says Gallery Manager Petrina McNeill. “It’s really quite incredible that we have so many talented artists among our membership. Last year we had over 175 entries to the members show and the gallery is only able to accommodate about 50 or so pieces”.
“Our members and volunteers give so much to the gallery. I am constantly amazed at all the endeavors our members are up to in and out of their studios”, says Curator Katie Brennan, “That they still have time support the gallery the way they do is outstanding”.
Besides an opportunity to show their work at a public art gallery, artists’ work will also receive feedback from the member’s show jury. This year, the Lake Country Art Gallery is pleased to announce that artists Karla Griffin and Angelika Jaeger will serve on the jury along with LCAG curator Katie Brennan.
Karla Griffin is a Saskatoon, SK based artist who recently moved to Kelowna to teachas a Sessional Lecturer in studio at UBC Okanagan. She has exhibited across Canada and within the United States, and she has written for BlackFlash Magazine and AKA Gallery.
Aj (initials for angelika jaeger), who is currently a member of the Lake Country Art Gallery, began honing her skills by studying with internationally- known artists through workshops with the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) in 1995. In 2005 Aj began her formal schooling in Fine Arts at the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBC-O), where she is currently in the process of finishing her Bachelor of Fine Arts. Aj's work can be found in private collections in both Europe and Canada and in regular exhibits in a number of local galleries.
