From Lochs to Lakes: Mary Smith McCulloch Creative Legacy, brings together 19 former students who studied under Mary at either Okanagan College, Okanagan University College or University of British Columbia Okanagan and have continued with their art practice. These artists recognize the importance of those early art school days and the relationships formed.
The artwork in this exhibition ranges from pieces completed in art school, to work that best represents an individual’s current art practice to pieces made specifically for this exhibition. The exhibition catalogue includes stories and memories about Mary’s teaching days and will give you some insight on the impact she has on those who know her. Mary Smith McCulloch’s teaching career in the Okanagan began in 1973 until her retirement in May 2000. She was a professor of Fine Arts at Okanagan College/Okanagan University College/University of British Columbia Okanagan teaching printmaking, art history, and visual forum.
