If you don't see it, you can't paint it.

Learning to see with an artists eye often depends on unlearning some things that often we don't know we do. Our brain fills in gaps resulting in painting what we think we see, not what is actually there.

In this two-day class, through demonstrations, drawing and painting exercises, as well as critiques, you will learn techniques to improve your observational skills.

The beauty of learning to REALLY see is that you can then paint anything – a still life, landscape, or the figure. There are no tricks, magic keys or fancy color combinations that will ever surpass your ability to observe.

This workshop is open to people who paint in oil, acrylic or watercolor, and any skill level. It runs from 9am to 4pm (a one hour lunch break in the middle)

Supplies:

Each participant is required to bring their own painting materials that  including paints, brushes, and canvases or panels. Canvases under 12x16 in size (three to four) are recommended. Attached is a list of supplies that I use in the event you would like to see it, but I always suggest you use what is comfortable for you. One thing I recommend is to use the best quality products that you can afford.

The instructor will supply all materials required for exercises and any instructional materials.
