The Lake Country Art Gallery Celebrates Expansion into New Art House Space with Grand Opening Oct 4th
The Lake Country Art Gallery is proud to have taken possession of its new Art House space, the building located directly south of the Gallery on Bottom Lake Rd. This was made possible through the generous financial support of the District of Lake Country, and dedicated members of the community have already stepped forward to bring three new and exciting ventures into being.
First in the door was UBC Okanagan BFA graduate, artist and former practicum student with the Lake Country Art Gallery, Lucas Glenn. Glenn is spearheading the ArtShelf Bookshop & Reading Room, bringing his own magic with art and the written word to the ArtShelf bookshelves, which features used books on art, culture, design and architecture.
Hot on his heels was artist Karen Coon, who has been the dynamo behind getting the artist-run Gallery Gift Shop up and running in time for Artwalk this past Sept 7th & 8th. Already many local artists have their wares available in the shop, including Alice Pallet’s innovative and stunning fibreworks, scarves and handbags, Maud Besson’s ECCETERRAdesign jewelry line, and small, affordable original art by Lorraine Burns, Trina Ganson, Jolene Mackie, Margaret Kyle and Marlene McPherson, to name a few. More artist wares are being added all the time. Stop by a for visit Wednesday to Saturday, 10am - 4pm.
Several successful art classes have already been offered in the new dedicated art workshop, including oil painting classes with artist Gillian Rau, and “The Art of Words”, a three part workshop with award-winning writer/mentor Darcy Nybo. New classes are being booked all the time, and will be listed on the Lake Country Art Gallery website.
