Painting masterclass with Artist Ann Willsie April 2024 There are many aspects to consider when painting a landscape, including composition, design, values and color harmony. During this workshop we will talk a little about values and their importance to the success of your painting. This begins with a block in of darks and lights, basically a template, which can then be enhanced with colour notes. We will also be talking about atmospheric perspective, and how to make that work in your painting. Each day will begin with a discussion of the topics, followed by exercises to reinforce those topics, and finally a demo by Ann. The rest of the day you will be working on your own paintings, with lots of one-on-one help. |

A message from the artist: “My vision for the class is to create a dedicated space and time for practicing drawing, no matter the skill level. I hope to make it feel like attending a yoga class, where there is no finished product per se. I will discuss basics and introduce exercises. Its also an opportunity to have dedicated time for drawing and to revisit those exercises if you’ve explored them before or learn for the first time. I also hope to encourage a sense of playful experimentation through movement and Mark making as well as exercises for loosening up/following our guts.” -Christina Knittel
