Part-Time Work Integrated Learning for Student at Lake Country Art Gallery – Sep-Dec 2026

Join a small, dynamic public art gallery team to and gain hands-on experience across operations, programs, and community engagement.

The student will apply and strengthen a broad range of practical and transferable skills through direct involvement in the daily operations and public programming activities of the gallery. Working alongside the Executive Director and Curator, the student will contribute to both administrative and creative projects within a professional arts and culture environment.

About the role: This position offers broad, practical experience in the day-to-day operations of a public art gallery. Working within a small team, you will contribute across administration, communications, public programming, and visitor engagement.

Through mentorship, apprenticeship-style learning, and progressively independent responsibilities, the student will develop professional competencies relevant to careers in the arts, culture, communications, and nonprofit sectors.

This is a hands-on learning role with mentorship, requiring flexibility, initiative, and strong organizational skills.

About You: You are organized, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic public environment. You are confident balancing multiple responsibilities and motivated by learning through experience.

You may be studying in arts, education, business, communications, or a related field—or bring transferable skills suited to a multi-functional community role.

You are comfortable working across three areas:

• Public Engagement & Programming
  Engaging with visitors and community members, supporting events and workshops, and assisting with children’s summer art camps.
• Operations & Administration
  Managing emails, scheduling, registrations, records, and day-to-day systems in a small team environment.
• Communications & Digital Work
  Supporting social media, newsletters, basic marketing materials, and digital content (including website updates and visual documentation).

Key Responsibilities

• Front-line visitor engagement and gallery hosting
• Email, scheduling, registration, and administrative support
• Social media and communications support
• Marketing and promotional materials
• Support for public programs, events, and workshops
• Documentation, feedback collection, and basic reporting
• Volunteer and operational support as needed​

Position Details

• 16 weeks - September 1st to December 23rd - with potential to continue/ renew in 2027
• 20 hours/week 
• $22/hour
• working days TBC but will include most weekends plus one weekday with occasional evenings.

Eligibility Applicants must:

• Be 18–30 years old at start of employment
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have protected refugee status
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Be currently enrolled in full-time post-secondary education and that the employment period and the active student status have significant overlap
• The WIL experience must be relevant to the Student’s field of study
